Work or Play

Daddy had a special surprise for the boys tonight. He had to check on a few things at his new work building and he brought their four wheelers, bikes, and balls in his truck to work this morning. They loved being able to ride, run, and play inside a big room where it is warmer. Too bad we don't have a place like this for the whole winter. The carpet was half off and made a great surface to ride a bike and four wheeler. Cooper loved playing with the balls and was almost running. Baylor was thrilled to be riding his four wheeler again. They both are so going to be so excited when spring finally comes and they can be outside everyday. I am going to be excited too!

Library Time

After preschool we headed to the library. We used to go all the time and have not been in a while. Both boys had a great time playing at the library. Baylor loved the computer games and Cooper liked pulling books off the shelves. We are still working on library etiquette with him. Baylor picked out a stack of books to bring him. He wondered why we didn't pay for them. We went over the checking out process but he decided he wanted to keep the Pooh book forever. I love the library and the quiet atmosphere it provokes. Silence truly is golden at times.

Play, Laugh, Learn

We went to the Children's Museum today and had a wonderful time. It is so nice to go on a day when it is not crowded. Many times we were the only ones in an exhibit. The boys had so much fun. I can tell Baylor is getting older when we visit some of our favorite spots in the museum. Before in the dinosaur exhibit he would only want to dig or play, but today he played games on the computer and wanted to read about the different dinosaurs. He had fun talking with one of the staff members about the dino bones and other fossils. He is getting so big. Cooper thinks he has hit the jackpot and loves being able to be a part of the action. Both boys loved Scienceworks today and were able to spend lots of time there with hardly any people. We all had a great time playing and learning together.

New Tricks

Cooper is past the 15 months mark and is becoming very independent and opinionated along the way. He can get past any blockade and will suffer bodily harm to get to a crayon that is in a plastic tub. He is crazy for coloring. The only problem is we have not established that you only color on paper. The crayons have been put in the closet to help with this problem. Cooper is great at peek a boo and patty cake. He likes to point at pictures in books and is great at lift the flap books. Maybe a little too great hence the reason most of the flaps are now missing. Talk about frustrating for Baylor. He has started making car noises when playing with trucks, cars, and trains. He also likes to hold a sword and make a swooshing noise. This really is funny. I know he has been watching his brother during his many dress up escapades. He truly is a climber and has great balance. He can stand on anything and hardly ever falls. His vocabulary is coming along and he is doing better with new words. Baylor was such a talker and still is which may be part of the reason Cooper has been taking his time. Here are his words. You may not be able to understand them all, but we do especially when he repeats them over and over until you follow through with his request.

Everyone Needs Some MoJo

After Mops we were on flooring detail at our house. First we got one more estimate for our floor at home and then headed to Tom's new office to look at carpet. Baylor was excited to play in the big office. With no furniture the space is enormous and great to run around in when it is cold. Then we went to Tom's current office for lunch and were greeted by Mojo. She is a Yorkie and is quite adorable. She is also one of the catalysts to the whole puppy debate. Once Tony started bringing her to work everyday Tom wanted one of his own. Maybe we could just have Baylor visit Mojo once a week and call it his dog on loan. She is pretty cute though.

Background: Baylor and I were watching the news and they were talking about the inauguration. Baylor was asking which one was going to be the president and what he had to do. A whole new conversation started.

Baylor: Mom I don't think I want to be the president.

Mom: Why not? You get to make lots of decisions and live in the White House.

B: I don't want to live in the White House it is too far away.

M: It is far away but I could live with you in that big house.

B: I would like to be on money. Will the new president be on money like Washington.

M: I don't think so.

B: I want to be on the big money not Washington.

M: Okay that sound good.

B: Mom I think I want to work at McDonald's instead.

M: That sounds good Baylor. I am sure you would do a great job. Dream Big Boy!

Sledding

Baylor has been so excited to go sledding since Daddy brought home a sled a couple of weeks ago. They were all set to go one day after watching the weather forecast and then the snow did not come. Lately it has been so cold that they have not wanted to venture outside. Today after church with snow flurries coming down they decided to give it a try. Daddy bundled him all up and off they went to Southeastway Park. Tom said he would not have tried to sled down the mud hill unless he didn't see the other people already there. Baylor did not care that there was not much snow but had a great time. It was nice for Daddy and Baylor to have some alone time and to be outside.
